Sree Siddaganga Mutt

Sree Siddaganga Mutt is an ancient ashram, in Tumkur, fostering a continuous line of illustrious "Shiva Yogi Siddapurushas". The Mutt was established by Sree Gosala Siddeshwara Swamiji in 15th century A.D. Sree Siddaganga Mutt is a unique Gurukula providing education to more than 8000 poor children with free food and shelter, without any discrimination of caste or creed. The Mutt also runs a blind school & nearly 100 blind children are given free education & food with an independent hostel facility.



The Mutt established Sree Siddaganga Education Society in 1962 & runs more than 130 educational institutions. The Mutt also organises annual Agricultural & Industrial exhibition for the benefit of farmers.

His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamiji is the present head of Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur Dist. Born in 1907, Sree Swamiji has devoted more than 75 years of his age to the fruitful service of humanity, hard work and disciplined life. His concern for the poor and the down trodden are utmost. Endowed with sound collegiate education in English, Sanskrit and Kannada, Sree Swamiji has developed educational institutions in which the students are exposed to a wide spectrum of knowledge- right from traditional learning of Sanskrit to the modern science and technology.

Shivakumara Swamiji, popularly known as "Nadedaduva Devaru" (Walking God) in Karnataka, passed away in Tumakuru at 11.44 am on Monday, 21st January 2019, following ill health. He was 111 years old. Shivakumara Swamiji was being treated for lung infection and other age-related ailments for the last few months and was on ventilator for the last one week on and off.
