AdiChunchanagiri is an unique historic site and temple city sitiuated in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district of Karnataka, 16 kms away from Nagamangala town. AdiChunchanagiri is the seat of Swami of Vokkaliga community. The two major attractions of AdiChunchanagiri are the Adichunchanagiri Math and the Peacock Sanctuary.

AdiChunchanagiri is a noted place of pilgrimage, popular for Bhairava worship. The two natural cave temples here are dedicated to Siddheswara and Someshwara. Another main attraction is the gangadeshwara temple. Besides this there are temples that are scattered throughout the city.

The AdiChunchanagiri Mutt is also located here. Lord Kalabhairaveshwara is worshipped at Adichunchanagiri Math. The Mutt also runs a Medical College here.

Apart from being a historic site it will also grab the attention of animal lovers. The Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary is worth visiting. The altitude of the sanctuary may vary from 770 to 1000 meters. If one is touring the Adichunchanagiri sanctuary during monsoon then the sight of the dancing peacock is sure to captivate him. The main idea behind this national park is to preserve animals. Bonnet macaque, fruit bat, jungle cat, hare and common mongoose have chosen Adichunchanagiri as their dwelling place. Sri Adichunchanagiri Maha Samsthana Math a religious mutt in Nagamangala Taluk, Mandya District, Karnataka is a Vokkaliga community Mutt. The present head, Sri Sri Sri Nirmalananda Swamiji is the 72nd head of this Mutt. Swamiji became the head of the Mutt in 2013. The Mutt grew rapidly under the 71st pontiff Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji who headed the mutt from 1974 to 2013.

Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science

Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science was founded in the year 1986 and located off the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway at Balagangadharanatha Nagara, Mandya, Karnataka. The institute was established with the purpose of disseminating quality medical education to the aspiring students from the rural areas. The college is sponsored by Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, which was started in 1973. The college was initially under Mysore University but now it is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore. It is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi and General Medical Council, London (U.K).
