Simsha
Simsha is a tributary of Kaveri which passes through Karnataka. The Simsha River is known for having scenic beauty and lush forests in its course.

Bhatkal has many water falls in its course. The origin of the Simsha River is at the Devarayanadurga hill.
There are many small settlements and villages on the banks of the Simsha River. These scenic villages are a good place to visit to get a feel of village and rural life in India. The Markonahalli Dam was built on the Simsha River. The reservoir of the Dam is home to many species of fish. There are 27 species of fish including carps and Cirrhinus Reba.The weather in the area surrounding the Simsha is cool.
The main attraction in Simsha is the Shivanasamudra waterfall and it is at a height of 914 meters above sea level. The waterfall is near the confluence of Kaveri and Simsha rivers. Shivanasamudra waterfall consists of two waterfalls called Bharachukki and Gaganachukki. The temperatures are mild and the best time of year to visit the place is from the months of June to September. It is located around 70 km from Mysore and the waterfall is easily accessible by road.
